Justus von Liebig: Who else remembers this man?
Fertilizer, rooted in Justus von Liebig's old ideas, hasn't evolved much. How healthy is that for our diet and body today?
Justus von Liebig, the Father of Fertilizers, who remembers him? Over the past hundred years and still today, thanks to fertilizers, the soil has mainly been fed with only about 3 minerals: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium. Agricultural science built on this premise from that day on, and has continued in these practices to this day without ever looking back.
Ground heating? Who cares?
In 1843, however, Justus von Liebig already noted the following remarks about his earlier work, but it was too late, few listened: “I had sinned against the wisdom of our creator and received a fair punishment for it. I wanted to improve his handiwork, and in my blindness I believed that in this beautiful chain of laws, which connects life to the Earth's surface and keeps it always rejuvenated, there might be a missing link that had to be replaced by me—this one turned out to be powerlessly nothing.
” Improving the creator's handiwork. It can lead to catastrophes. The question is: who is it #Harari tell?
Of course, agriculture needs to be improved. And it's possible. According to farmer Arnold van Woerkom. According to farmer Jan Dirk van de Voort. According to many other farmers who work in such a way that food production is not the enemy of nature but can function in complete harmony with nature and the soil is restored. And also economically profitable with production up to standard.
But wiping out farmers?
Who came up with that crazy idea? That's what we do with vertical farming (without land!) will it survive?
Soil is the most important resource for health.
That's why we've been writing about this at SMPL for a long time.
